cmotherofpirl
Do you bow or curtsey to the Queen of England? Is that respect to her person or her office?
popestpiusx
Okay well i was told that you should kiss the ring or hand of the bishop is this true?
You kiss his ring. You can either bow and do it or genuflect with your LEFT knee and do it. I would recomend that you do not kiss his hand. It is a sign of respect to his office (of which the ring is a symbol). It has nothing to do with his person. Most bishops in the US try to stop you or don't like it when people do it because they do not understand that distinction.

popestpiusx
When you meet a prelate from Europe, especially Cardinals, they are used to it, and some even expect it (not in an arrogant way, just as the way it is). But they come here and are paid little respect. I was at a dinner with Cardinal Arinze, attended by very orthodox donors of Christendom College and only three or four of the 40 or so people there knelt and kissed his ring. It was annoying.
