PaxVobis
Hey guys, I just wanted to know what you guys know about the Dominicans. I looked at their order sometime ago, when I first thought about a vocation and recently I've started looking at them again. What do you guys know about them? Conservative minded? Liberal? Any one have any contact with them? If so please tell me what you think. I'm pretty seriously thinking about them. Thanks! Pax, Tony

RemnantRules
Blessed Be God!!! Political i don't know but what i DO know is that they are awesome! I like how they are a teaching order, that's why you see them as professors alot of the time. They learn and speak the truth. They obviously are HUGE on the Rosary and they have the best color, WHITE!!!. I've met plenty of them and they are sooo awesome and nice. StColette
I know some about the Dominicans, I know a Religious Brother online who speaks very highly of them and from my research of them they appear to be a very good order http://www.op.org/ http://www.dominicans.org/

popestpiusx
The Dominican House of Studies in D.C. is pretty good. The order itself, like any other major order, can only be judged at the local level. There are good priories and really wacky ones. If you are interested in the traditional Dominican life: http://www.unavoce.org/ferrer.htm

BLAZEr
Eastern Province (St. Joseph Province) and California Province of Dominicans are great guys. My friend is in temporary vows with the Eastern Province and is very very happy. The other provinces (Midwest, Southern) are pretty liberal. There are still good Dominicans in those provinces, but you're gonna be a fish out of water for the most part. Stick to the Eastern Province or California province. popestpiusx
Stick to the Eastern Province or California province.
Strange that California is a haven for conservative dominicans. California is not usually associated with much of anything conservative these days. Andrea348
Dominicans are AWESOME!!! I hope to be one someday. I don't know about the brothers, but Dominican sisters and how conservative/liberal they are varies by order. There are some extremely traditional Dominican orders that are loyal to the Magisterium and wear habits. There are also some other groups of Dominicans that a really rather liberal and no longer wear the habit.
PaxVobis
hmm.. Thanks for all of your responses.. I'm looking at the southern province since its it covers my home area "oklahoma". I've talked to the vocations director and he said he will be sending me some information and calling me sometime soon. I'll just have to wait and see what happens and see what they are like if/when I go to visit them. Thanks again for your help! Pax, Tony
