Gone to Mass

toledo_jesus

Before I go to Mass I am usually pretty excited. If I've gone to Confession or I know I'm good with the state of grace thing I'm even more excited. How do you feel before Mass?

Are you kidding me?! we are going to see and receive our Lord and Savior. He is going to give us his body, blood, soul and divinity and tap into the richness of scripture with typological and moral truth and all we can be is happy?! Come on! how about pumped... excited!
Excuse my exuberance as I am very passionate about the Mass. Sometimes I can fall off the state of grace and then I may get sad, I guess we are all diferent. But even then it gives me motivation. There is nothing worse (and I went through this a few weeks ago) than going to a banquet and not being able to eat.

Remember kids... wash your hands before you eat :)

PS. XIX I feel you, I've been there and that will go away as you keep seeking the kingdom of God... pray the Rosary DAILY and don't fall off. Ask the blessed mother to intercede so that your gap may be filled. I have perpetual adoration in my parish, so whenever I can't sleep in the middle of the night I just go and pray for whatever keeps me from getting rest. You may not be as lucky, but if you get your rosary out and start praying your heart will find its rest "My heart is wrestless until it rests in you"-St. Augustine.

Mostly happy. Many a time I'm feeling a bit unsure before Mass, but that's only if I attend a church I'm unfamiliar with. If I go to the music/choir section and I manage to get a glimpse of the song rundown, and there's no mention of "Mass of Creation" or "Here I Am Lord" on there, then I go from unsure to happy. Yes, I know this is bordering on obsessive...

Afraid.

I have trouble paying attention sometimes, so I get afraid that I'll do it again, and God'll get offended because I go to mass and not pay attention. Then I feel really guilty recieving the Eucharist knowing I didn't pay very good attention (I try to...) and didn't contribute to the mass with devotion. So I feel afraid sometimes.

To me ....all this awesome-ness is best defined as 'utterly enraptured', ..if I am going by the dictionary definiton of 'Enraptured' meaning..to delight someone fully.

This is way beyond excited, happy or peaceful~ but that my soul is overtaken by the Glory of the Lord...

and I want to live in that always...

Am I alone or with kids?

If I'm alone, I love it. I can focus on Christ and pray.... With kids, I have to make sure they aren't sitting next to each other or climbing on something and whatnot... Not quite the same experience.

I am almost always sad because of the lack of reverence by people, the lack of Catholic theology in the music, and the worry of possible abuses in the liturgy.

I hate that feeling, but I'm starting the Cure D'Ars next week so I can commiserate with St. Jean Vianney.

I put excited...but it's sort of an excited peace, if that makes any sense...

It does to me, as that's how I feel, too, on the whole.

I'm ususally excited, but it varies a bit depending on the church I'm going to. I know that it's ultimately the Holy Eucharist that matters, but if I know that the church I'm going to has exiguous music and no aesthetic value, I'm not at all enthusiastic about that part of it, especially because I tend to get too upset to pay attntion properly.

I suppose I should say that I always love going to Mass, but my excitement can be mixed with some pretty serious dread of the music and all that.

Yeah, Tindomiel I totally agree with that.
But I am usally excited because of the knowledgethat I am going to Recieve Christ in the MOst Holy Eucharist.

Yeah, well put. That's why I'm always excited despite the fact that half the time the music is dreadful, etc.
