Gone to Mass

toledo_jesus

Before I go to Mass I am usually pretty excited. If I've gone to Confession or I know I'm good with the state of grace thing I'm even more excited. How do you feel before Mass?

I'm usually excited

except for yesterday when I was really nervous because I was playing the piano, and we were playing all songs I didn't know very well

I'm going to mix things up a little bit.

I find myself often being sad during mass for some oddball reason. The sadness actually feels good though. It's like there is this emptiness and I feel it so badly, and I can wait for it to be fulfilled. It's the most surreal feeling I know. I really believe that there is a person missing in my life, and I am (or at least I should be) willing to wait for God's plan to unfold. Sometimes I wonder if I should even be feeling that way at all, because it isn't something that just goes away upon receiving the Eucharist. I really believe God has planted an empty spot in my soul, buit I second guess myself when I still feel empty after mass. But I think it's a peaceful sadness too.

But that is what I have been contemplating at mass lately, and the sadness often intensifies in the presence of Jesus. Please tell me if you think I'm on the wrong track here.
