Enda
I chose "other" and by that I orginally ment for him to do a movie on Acts (I thought it would be a better sequel to The Passion and all), but the Maccabean wars would be AWESOME!
I voted for David but Maccabees seems extremely cool. A just war (meaning cool battle scenes) and it's only found in the Catholic Bible... Wouldn't he loose his protestant audience?
Screw that audience. Just kidding. You never really know how controversial movies are going to play out, but hey, Mel had a firggin huge success with The Passion, and I'm sure it would at least make some profit even if it wouldn't be that much. So I say he really shouldn't worry about getting controversial about the Maccabes.
White Knight
Ya but everyone can agree on Jesus...... but to make a movie based on someone else, that few people have ever heard about, might not be as big.
Guest Aluigi
Maccabees wouldn't necessarily kill the protestant audience... it'd draw in the Jewish audience cause it'd have Hanaka, and just remind protestants this is part of the history of our spiritual ancestors the Jews... DemonSlayer
I've been thinking for some time how great a movie about St. Peter (through a Catholic perspective) would be. It would be a 3hr film, the first hour would be about Jesus' ministry and Passion through Peter's eyes. This would include scenes with Jesus meeting Simon and renaming Peter, declaring Peter to be the first Pope, telling him that he would betray him but would have to strengthen the others once he returns to Him and telling him to feed His sheep after His ressurection. The second hour would involve Peter's role in building the Early Church as described in the books of the NT after the Gospels. Then, the third hour would involve his final years as he arrives in Rome and is crucified upside down.
luciana
I voted other-------*Maccabees*, though st. Paul was close. with Paul he could include St. Peter too and correct some of the Protestant misconceptions people have about St. Peter and St. Paul. Maccabees would be cool cause it would ahev some controversy and battle scenes to help people get in the theaters. protestants don't have thge story in their bibles but they know the existence of it. I have an ironic story related to Maccabees. At a Protestan Christian coioncetrt a few summers ago, I found it ironic that the majority of the audience including my non-Catholic family was sitting on those blue cloth and metal fold up chairs by a company called------------you guessed it,Maccabees It gave me alittle chuckle

White Knight
Ok people, this strictly has to be bibical lol, And it has to be someone who is well known, in the Bible but not too well known like the obvious. Maybe Isiah the or Daniel.
1st and 2nd Maccabees is located inbetween Esther and Job. It's in the Catholic bible, those two books (and 5 other OT ones) were removed by Martin Luther during the Protestant Reformation.
