Duc_In_Altum
I am currently suffering from the effects of a poisoned mind. I was once in an unchaste relationship and it hasn't necessarily left me. The most intimate and passionate moments of our lives have a way of being permanently branded onto our minds. I realize that and that is a cross i will have to bear for as long as God decides. I have repented for my sins through confession but my memories of the things she and i once did together return to me- especially during the liturgy. I don't entertain them but they consistantly return like clockwork. Am i just wack or can that be theologically explained? in Christ, -Joe Hahn
Pio Nono
JMJ 10/15 - St. Teresa of Avila Duc_In_Altum, Don't worry, man - like you said, these things are impressed upon our psyche for years after they occur. You've repented, you've confessed - you're absolved, brother. These memories will keep coming back, but part of being "perfect, just as your Heavenly Father is perfect" is taking these memories in stride, assigning them either to yourself or to the devil, and just rejecting them outright. It's not easy to do, but it is possible. If you find that this does not work, I recommend you either to the spiritual help of a good priest or to the help of another able psychological counselor. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
