Two, Questions About Confession...

Guest Horrible Sinner

2 brief questions.

1. A priest will not grant me absolution of the sin of Mast... because I confess it as a sin of Impurity... I don't want to confess it they other way... Should i find another confessor.

2. In spiritual direction... the priest brought up a previous sin I confessed in confession. Is this wrong... he brought about a sin from like two confessions ago.

Thank you for your answers.

1. Confess your sin as your priest wants for you to confess it. Say it and call it for what it is. Your denial to call it for what it is implicitly demonstrates the ugliness and outright sinfullness of the sin itself. This will help you recognize the reality of your sin and will serve as an instrumentally helpful cause in never committing that same sin again.

2. No, that is not wrong. Sins we have committed in the past leave a residue upon our lives, upon our souls, and even though they have been forgiven in the Sacrament, penance must be done to repair that residue, that crack in the soul. Spiritual direction has for its end your union with God, and by reflecting upon your past sins and doing penance for them, progress towards that union will be better attained.
