Guest BrianJohn
I'm interested in learning what tradition has to say about the lives of Mary and Joseph. Where were they born, how old were they when they were married, what do we know about their families, etc.? With so many non-Biblical sources giving details about the holy family, it's easy to be led astray. Could someone direct me to the best place(s) to look for finding information about Mary and Joseph that's been passed on through tradition? Thank you. Laudate_Dominum
The Protoevangelium of James was widely known in the early Church and it gives a lot of details about Mary and St. Joseph that are not in the Bible. This book is not Scriptural so its not infallible or anything, but it was read a lot in the early Church and was never condemned (as far as I know). I'll bet newadvent.org has this text in their library of patristic writings. God bless.
