Sojourner
Wow, that's pretty big. But it changes nothing ... friends come in all shapes and sizes. How long have you been diagnosed? Do you have to take meds?

I live a pretty normal life other than some side effects from the medicine...but it beats the alternative!
Sojourner
Seven years -- that's a long time. I did some quick research and a couple of sites said schizophrenia often shows up in young people in their prime. So will you have to take medications the rest of your life, or is it something that eventually can be healed?

So will you have to take medications the rest of your life, or is it something that eventually can be healed? [/quote] it depends on who you ask. My brother is a pharmacist and he told me about a doctor named Breggin who advocates a "psychosocial" approach to psychiatry, in which medicine is barely used at all. My brother says that most doctors fear liability, and so my doctor might not be honest with me. The medicines are pretty wicked, even though they're better than they used to be. I feel thankful that I have my sanity though.
