Bro,

You just won't be able to use Outlook or Outlook Express to access the account for free...

You'll still be able to access your hotmail account via the web at www.hotmail.com
Proof Microsoft smells of elderberries, once again.
Bro,

They smell of elderberries because they want to charge for something that they have been doing for free for about ten years?

Microsoft does not smell of elderberries.

Microsoft made it possible for the common user to be able to use a PC. They've made it affordable. They've created user friendly applications that some of the non-computer minded people can use. Before Microsoft, you would have to know some code to get things to work.

For those of us who want to throw up the OS2 and Mac copy argument, then you have to be mad at Dodge, Toyota, Honda, Chevy, etc... all for copying Ford.

I'm greatful for Microsoft. They've made my life easier, more productive, smarter, a way to learn about my faith quickly, a way to have time for school to get my degree and gave me a means to provide for my family.

Take away Microsoft, and you would be stuck with IBM and Apple (Linux doesn't count it's an eye sore to read text on a Linux, not to mention all the code you need to know). IBM or Apple = $$$$$ - Proprietary nightmares... but of course thank God for IBM for allowing other companies to make hardware which made it affordable.

Microsoft is a great company... they brought business compatability to the business world, which means that productivity is increased, and the learning curve is reduced.

I'm sorry but I must disagree with your opinion of Linux as being both an eyesore and difficult to use. I use Linux daily both at home and work, and can say most modern distributions look good, and installing a Linux distro like Fedora is alot easier than Win XP (which I also work with). My wife and mother are neither one technical and both have no problems using a current Linux Distro. I've found the operating system to be more reliable and faster than XP.

I also would have to add that I work for a company that is a Microsoft partner, and have seen alot of what they do from the inside. I can say that Microsoft is not a moral company. They will do *anything* to destroy competition, and don't care who they hurt in the process. They aren't always like that, and not everyone that works for them is like that, but the company over all is very, very nasty.

Microsoft is annoying  Windows XP is one of the worst OS's I've seen in a while. Internet Explorer is insecure. They're elitist, and it's annoying <_<

Bro,

First, I am not now nor have I ever been a bro. Please make a note of it.

Second, only in more recent versions of its applications has Microsoft been truly user friendly. I can still remember struggling to navigate early Microsoft apps, while Apple apps were intuitive (for me, at least) from the start. Companies other than Microsoft still have the edge when it comes to design and graphics software. I know of no graphic artist who works on a PC.

I think it's really difficult to argue product quality superiority when it comes to Microsoft. What's made Microsoft successful is an aggressive (read: predatory) business plan (which has, not surprisingly, gotten them in trouble with the feds). When I say Microsoft smells of elderberries, I mean they are business bullies who force their level of "quality" onto a public by swallowing up the competition. Compatibility is good, yes, but I also want something that delivers a high quality program.

When Honda "copied Ford", they improved on the product. Microsoft cannot say the same for its ripoff of Apple's operating systems.

I've used Red Hat. Never heard of Fedora. Programs made for WinXP are much better than programs made for Linux. Installing programs on Linux is a pain.

As for MS being a moral company, I didn't write that.

MS has done a lot of good in the things which I did write about. It has it's faults, but the company does not smell of elderberries. It is far from sucking.

MS has brought many good programs to the market... so what if they bought another company to do it... the company didn't have to sell themselves to MS... maybe the company wouldn't be able to get their product to the size of market that MS has access to.

There are a lot of factors at play... the fact is, they don't smell of elderberries.

And about doing better than the competiton - that's business. Microsoft partners look through a key hole into the company. I do not believe that there are a bunch of MS execs sitting around plotting how to "crush" other companies - Some people watch to much tv and listen to too many frivelous lawsuits... i.e. Netscape lawsuit. MS Execs focus on their products and making it better. We have had meetings with with MS Execs. Any company is going to have some nasty people working there. Passing a negative judgement without knowing the whole story and/or listening to both sides is not wise.

They're the biggest, and rumors will fly... Just like with the Catholic Church, all the immitators want to knock the king off the mountain... rumors and lies will fly. Some bad things might be true, but take them with a grain of rock salt.

So your agruing that the ends justify any means? It's okay that they did immoral things to other companies so long as they produced a product that is "easy to use".
