Sojourner
I had it chained to a meter outside my office, and when I came out to go home it was gone. I cried. I love my bike.

Sojourner
Thanks. I'm borrowing another one, but I was really quite attached. I walked into my house and it felt empty because the bike wasn't there ...
theculturewarrior
I can tell you some good that is coming out of it, if you want to hear it. I hope it doesn't offend you.

theculturewarrior
Well...It stinks that your bike was stolen, and you have every right to be sad and even angry. But the good thing is that you can offer it up to God, and another good thing is that when you lose something precious to you, I think of it as kind of like God claiming more of your life for himself. I know this may sound silly, I mean, after all, how is having your bike stolen going to help you get to Heaven? But God knows how. Of course, I haven't lost anything precious to me in a while, and usually when I tell people stuff like this, God makes sure I have the courage of my convictions. I wonder if anything will be missing when I get home. Let's pray for eachother...
picchick
I wil pray that your bike get returned. What TCW said is right though. I never thought of it that way. That's pretty wicked awesome. I'll pray
Sojourner
Thanks a lot for what you said, TCW. I think I hadn't really realized exactly how much I loved the bike until it was gone. I usually try really hard not to form deep attachments to my possessions, and usually it's not a big deal ... but the bike has really been something I've totally come to love over the last couple of months. Having it stolen helps me to take stock of where my heart has been with the bike ... you're right, it is good to be able to see this as an opportunity to convert more fully to God, and to offer up my sorrow and sadness ... Thanks for your prayers, pholks.
Phazzan
Really? You really think having your bike stolen will bring you closer to God? Really?
Sojourner
I don't think the theft in and of itself definitely brings me closer to God, but I have a choice about how I respond to the theft, and that choice could result in a growth in my faith. Scofizzle
the summer before my freshman year in highschool I was working out at our neighborhood REC center and my bike was stolen. We filed a report with the police and everything. A couple of months later my dad was fishing in one of the ponds in the neighborhood and he caught my boke. no joke. he caught it on his fishing pole....then he waded out to get it. I tried to fix it up but it was too jacked up. just thought that funny story would brighten your day.
Sojourner
That is funny! Although I have to say I would be really po'd if whoever took my bike trashed it into a pond. I mean, if they're not going to use it or sell it or something, why steal it in the first place?
