StColette
well, I know "Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus" means Outside the Church there is no salvation. Explicatus means "explanation, exposition" Et means "both" and Implitcatus, i dunno ? lol hmm I can't piece it all together lol
EcceNovaFacioOmni
I think he is trying to say something about Salvation Outside the Church and the implicit desire of the invincebly ignorant. The Latin doesn't make sense to me but I'm sure Raphael would know better.
Thy Geekdom Come
I have a better idea...tell me the English you want and I'll translate it for you.
Guest Aluigi
haha... i thought it was like outside the explicit/implicit church there is no salvation... lol i donno, maybe it can't work... like, ppl who are explicitly or implicitly joined to the Church might get salvation
Thy Geekdom Come
haha... i thought it was like outside the explicit/implicit church there is no salvation... lol i donno, maybe it can't work... like, ppl who are explicitly or implicitly joined to the Church might get salvation
I see. I wanted the English because if I had to take a guess with the Latin, and was wrong, then guessed again, and was wrong, etc...it would take much longer. Actually, what you want to say would end up looking very little like "Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Sallus" and I assume you were going for something that sounded similar. The reason is that in trying to maintain the Latin form, it would translate as "Outside of the Church, implicitly or explicitly, there is no salvation," but the "implicitly or explicitly" would deal with being outside the Church in either way, not in the Church in either way. The Latin to express the theology you're going for is "In Ecclesia aut definite aut tacite sallus," which means, "in the Church, either explicitly or implicitly, is salvation.
