ok story time pham

today while i was at football practice i had to use the restroom so i made my way from where we stand to the bathroom. when i got there, there was, sitting on the sink, a little booklet called "the big deal"......i picked it up and saw that it was one of jack chicks infamous publications. curious, i read through it and it was like the story of issac and esau and all the deciet and trickery and whatnot and in the end, some guy who did the same thing but in a real life situation, got SAVED!!!!!!! and then at the back it has like a bunch of information on what is necessary to be saved.

i thought it was pretty interesting, not in a "i want to do that" way, but more like in a "i didnt know that those things were acutally printed and what are the odds that i find one in the bathroom at the football field" way

anyway, i kept it and threw it away when i got back to my room......was that a right decision??? what would you have done????

any thoughts????

I would have had a special bond fire and burned it in front of everyone. Maybe the ill-educated nin-come-mushy mud pie who put it there would see you doing that and you could have a heart to heart with them.

here are my thoughts... anyone feel free to comment

This Christian pamphlet might have been some help to somebody. After all, MOST Christians have SOME of the truth. The Gospel can still be gleaned from these pearls, as distorted as they have become.

I wouldn't have thrown it away. I would have left it there. Obviously it was intended for someone. You, perhaps?

Okay, so here's the solution. Everyone needs to make some www.phatmass.com labels & www.catholicapologetics.com labels & stick them onto the back & front of these pamphlets. How about that as a compromise?

And maybe some on-fire Catholic-hating Protestant would have come across it, picked it up, read it, and visited some websites that had the FULLNESS of the truth.

Just a thought.

But isn't Jack Chick an on-fire Catholic-hating Protestant?

Whoops. Let me correct that: an on-fire Catholic-hating "ex-Catholic" Protestant.

Hm, I would have saved it for a good laugh. One of my friends actually collects them (he's a grad student... interesting story when he was reading one in class one day, the prof, Dr. Marler, goes up to him and asks, "Where'd you get that, Aquinas Institute?" (AI is a theology school on campus that's notoriously liberal)), and I know that the Benedictine Abbey has a few too. They're just so absurd...

I just did a post on my website about Chick.

For the full story (if you don't already know it), go here:
http://www.catholic.com/library/sr_chick_tracts_p1.asp

I found this resource to be very good. It's quite long, but worth the whole read.

No, it is not worth leaving them out there to be read by others. If you see one, trash it. Most of his tracts are expressly anti-Catholic and teach that the Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon and the pope is the anti-Christ and all Catholics are going to hell.

Yeah, if it was some other protestant thing, It probably woulda been a good idea to leave it there but if anyone reccomends reading Jack Chick, we'll have a prob.
