the_rev
The other day at daily mass, we were having a memorial service type thing, for a baby that died in the mother's womb. Fr. David wanted certain scripture readings and couldn't find them. So they read it out of hte bible from the lectern. Is this appropriete, or are we to use the liturgical reading book? cappie
The readings in the liturgical books are put there for ease and relevance for the particular service being undertaking. However in Australia for funerals, marriages and baptisms the bishops will allow other parts of scripture to be used provided they are seen as appropriate to the ceremony being conducted.
