Sojourner
I'm writing a story about international adoption because there's a lawyer here who is in the process of adopting a baby from Kenya. It's so sad to read about all the children in Kenya who are being orphaned because of HIV/AIDS ... now I want to adopt one. Or all of them. I always wanted to run an orphanage, like Jo (of "Little Women" fame) went on to do in "Jo's Boys." Maybe I should do that in Africa. Anyone wanna go with me? Thy Geekdom Come
A family friend adopted a son from Japan. It was very sad. The orphanages there are carppy at best and the infants didn't even get any sort of pillows or normal human interaction. Most of the infants ended up using their bottles as pillows and my friends had to massage his head daily until it took back a normal round shape... I know some other folks who adopted two girls from the Philippines...

They were saying similar things about the Kenyan babies ... a lot of them were born testing postive for HIV because they carried their mother's antibodies. They said most of the babies that are brought into the orphanage are found by people in ditches or refuse piles.
Ooo, you might take a look at the Shoe House in Pennsylvania. It's really cute ... we could add on to the top because I don't think three bedrooms would be enough for our burgeoning family.
