Fides_et_Ratio
None of them are the "best". They all have their faults. And I'm a tremendously picky person.
Paladin D
I would like to know this myself, so I just voted null.
Theoketos
Um, Seriously forgot Benedictine College, which is better then all of them. And I hear Christendom is good also.
DominaNostra
None of the above. Thomas Aquinas College in California is the best. The next best is Christendom, probably.
kateri05
any catholic university/college that takes the Mandatum is "the best", eliminating all schools, as far as i know, except: Ave Maria Stubie Christendom Thomas Aquinas Magdalene there might be one or two more, but DEFINTELY NOT CUA, Georgetown, Notredame, and a few others historically known as big name catholic colleges
RemnantRules
my school is Notre Dame but i vote FU b/c it's I think the best CATHOLIC school.
DominaNostra
Kateri, that is true. Thanks for the list. I forgot about Magdalene. It is small, but I still might put that above Christendom. As for the rest that take the Mandatum, they are all good, definitely, but as far as I know Thomas Aquinas, Magdalene, and Christendom are the most orthodox and traditional. Does Ave Maria have a dress code? I know that the other three I mentioned all do. I do not think Franciscan does (at least not a traditional one like the other three: girls have to wear skirts and dresses to class, men have to wear ties, or at least collared shirts; I think Thomas Aquinas only requires collared shirts, not ties, but they have amazing academics). God bless.
DominaNostra
I forgot to mention, Steubenville graduates are not hired in a Diocese in Nebraska (probably Lincoln). That is one reason that I am always cautious of the school as a whole (not necessarily every single teacher, though).
kateri05
isn't the most important thing tho, fidelity to the teachings and authority of the magesterium over control of the students? (dress code, visiting policies, etc etc)

Socrates
Christendom College!! Crusaders, baby!!! (Wayyy better than TAC (The Arrogant College)! ) CC has the best academics. (CC and TAC argue over who's better, all the time, but other than some differences in pedagogical method, they have an extremely similar culture.) Magdalene is a lot stricter than CC (or any place on the planet for that matter, if that is your criteria for "best Catholic") - They have a sort of semi-monastical campus life (or "Catholic boot camp"). Definitely not for all tastes! Edited September 18, 2004 by Socrates
Fiat_Voluntas_Tua
Um, Seriously forgot Benedictine College, which is better then all of them.
Blessed be God! At least one person is representin' BC! Amen Brother James! BC is definately the best Catholic school...It is Catholic enough to get fed, but diverse enough to be a light for those in 3rd floor Augustine Hall. (If you know BC you know what I am talking about.) Ave Maria, Andy
IcePrincessKRS
Christendom College!! Crusaders, baby!!! Definitely not for all tastes!
heh heh Yeah, Christendom definately should have been on that list. There are certainly things that I don't exactly agree with among their rules (a couple things could be a little less strict) but when you put it hand and hand with all the good that Christendom has to offer its nothing to gripe about. Domina, Christendom does have a dress code but they allow girls to wear dress slacks to class as well--not just skirts/dresses. (I'm a Christendom grad). The only two Catholic colleges I have first hand experience with are Steubie and Christendom. Of the two I think academic-wise Christendom is better, though FUS has more subjects/majors to offer. If you could combine the additional options Steubie has with all Christendom has to offer THAT would be the best Catholic college. The FUS campus has a more relaxed atmosphere, which I like, but Christendom is much more homey, you don't feel lost walking onto campus. I could compare the two till I'm blue in the face, but in the end I'll always opt for having my BA from Christendom not FUS.
