jasJis
For those of you who are pro-declawing,you do know that the cut the ends of thier toes off, right? Sounds brutal and barbaric to me.
Brutal and barbaric is claiming you "own" a cat and let it out at night because it's "natural". Hello. The animal has been domesticated. It isn't meant to live outside. Feral cats have a short and brutal lifespan. They are subjected to all kinds of dangers, diseases, etc. It's not like you're taking a baby squirrell inside to be a pet. Cats have evolved beyond that. They are house pets. Brutal and barbaric is not spaying or neutering your cat and letting it breed and having unwanted kittens to "dispose of". Since the animal is clearly domesticated, it isn't that big a deal to have it declawed. They don't chop their toes off with a steak knife. The nail and nail bed is removed surgically. Yes, it is sore for a few days. Small price to pay for a happy and loved life indoors. The same goes for spaying and neutering. Though it's not "natural", it adds to the quality of life after a week or so of recovery. Our cats don't miss their claws. They use their paws to kneed and "scratch" on us and the furniture without getting in trouble. We have one cat that pats us on the face with his paw for 'lovies'. He can also thump our dog on the head with his paw to play games or make the dog stop bugging him. After a week of 'tender toes', the cat is just fine, healthy, and enjoys a great life with us.
