I Feel Just Terrible
We've always gotten our cats declawed. Inside is where cats belong. They live longer and happier lives. Outside cats die from disease, dogs, other cats, cars, etc. For those who haven't yet gotten their cats declawed, get just the front claws done. Cats will defend themselves mostly with their rear claws but need their front claws for climbing and hunting. Once a cat is declawed (even just the front) it must be an inside cat. Keeping the rear claws is for just incase they accidently get out.
For those of you who are pro-declawing,you do know that the cut the ends of thier toes off, right? Sounds brutal and barbaric to me.

I'm very well aware of that, however,Pete-ster, it's more brutal and barbaric for those who have indoor cats to leave them undeclawed, and cause their cats to get in trouble. It's not fair to the cats to get in trouble for using their instincts, now is it?

Katie:

I would cuddle her, but I was told to leave her alone until she makes the move to show that she wants to be cuddled/be paid attention to.

It's all personal choice. I wouldn't get my cat declawed. I was merely refering to those who are making it sound like you have to have it done...a scratching post and a bit of cat-nip solves the problem for alot of cats.

Not ours. We have tried buying a scratching post, bringing her up to it, getting her to stick her claws out, and make her scratch it. We tried rubbing catnip into the scratching post. We tried the spray stuff that's supposed to be pet repellent. We tried the water bottle and spraying her every time that she scratched. Nothing's worked. This was the last resort, and it's bad enough that I feel horrible about it, you don't have to rub it in and make me feel even worse.

Thanks....I love my cat more than anything else (she's like my child), and as I sit here, i fight there as I watch her try to use the claws taht aren't there, and listen to her cry, and now taht I had a part in causing her that pain.

I love her, and would be devestated if anything happened toher.
