Giving Blood

Recommended Posts

I wish I could give blood, but I don't weigh enough. My dad gives his blood a lot. Giving blood is a really good thing to do. It really comes in handy.

God bless,

Jen

I don't and can't give blood. I don't weigh enough unless I'm pregnant or holding 5 or 10 lb weights in my pockets. Its a little disappointing, yet at the same time I'm kind of relieved because it freaks me out just a little.

I have a friend who can't give blood because she got a false positive for HIV or something. Even though she went through major tests and stuff to make sure she was ok they still won't take her blood because of it. I knew another girl who's mom got a false positive for HIV and they never told her so she gave blood for YEARS and they just threw it out without telling her.

I had a dura matter (I think that's what it is...the covering over your brain and spinal cord) transplant when I was a wee little tot...puts me at a risk for CJD...they don't want that in the blood supply.

I don't want to give my blood anyway....

I just gave blood on Monday! I've been a donor for a few months. I usually do it once a month if i can make time when i'm working. but i probably won't be able to again until after i finish boot camp.

I give blood. A bloodmobile comes to Church every 6 weeks and I rarely miss giving blood. I found out last time I gave that my O+ blood doesn't have a certain virus that most people have (it's harmless in adults) so my blood is PURE and they give it to premie babies. I'm just rare and special. Now I feel obligated and won't miss at all.

i used to do plasma and pheresis, but i haven't for awhile. they is only one person down there i trust and every time i schedule with her, i get there and she's not there. i've donated 10 gallons. plus, with plasma/pheresis, you can actually donate every 48 hours (although I would do it every 2 weeks)

AfroNova No Limit Soldier

Wow.

Some of you don't weigh enough to give blood! I think I weighed enough when I was in 5th grade.

Whenever I give blood, I offer the pain I feel up for the souls in purgatory. A suggestion to all who are scared.

Ok, now if I found out something like that I'd give blood every chance I got! (I'm A+)

AfroNova, nope, I don't weigh enough. They say you have to be at least 110. When they did blood drives at my college and the workers found out I don't weigh enough they told me to eat more so I could donate the next time. lol My body just doesn't work that way, my weight just stays the same until I get pregnant. If I DID weigh enough I'd at least TRY to donate. I know my veins are easy enough to find from when they take blood do the initial tests when I go in for my prenatal appointments. Being a runt doesn't always have the best benefits. lol
