Celtic Football Club

Celtic were started by an Irish Priest to help the poor Irish Catholics in Glasgow, who were treated as second class citizens, and many would say still are. I am a Celtic supporter, I am proud of it, I am also proud to be Catholic and of Irish stock. I thought I would let everyone see this video of Celtic fans(myself included) singing before the Champions League game against Barcelona( who we are playing tomorrow). I think you will like it...

We all know 'You'll Never Walk Alone' is a Liverpool song. :-P

I also have a soft spot for Celtic, considering my heritage is Scottish and it's traditionally a Catholic club. I don't follow them nearly as much these days since Viduka left, but he may be back someday.

Cool, yeah, we are the Catholic club! Unlike Rangers, we do not tell players not to bless themselves because the fans will be angry. I really wonder why any Catholic can play/support Rangers, if you dont know what I mean, listen to them singing at any game, 'fcuk the Pope', 'No chapels, no nuns and no priests' etc. It really does sadden me how bigoted people can be.

Hail Hail

p.s they had an anti Catholic singing policy until 1989!

Yeah, I remember when they singled out Tony Vidmar (another Aussie :D ) for making the sign of the cross before an old firm game. I suppose Celtic supporters aren't that much better.

What do you mean by singled him out?

Wow, I didn't even know Vidmar is a Catholic.
And also, until recently Rangers didn't allow Catholics to join the team.
with knowing that, I wonder sometimes why there is still hostility twords Rangers. Did Christ not teach us to forgive ? Is there more to the story?

Of course, we have a bad element in our support, to a far lesser degree It sounds easy to say all this should be stopped, but how can the fans be told not to when players ( another example by Bob Malcolm recently) add FTP to their signatures( figure it what it means  ). I think the element in our support is the hardcore supporters who like to vent their pro IRA chants at some games. Anyway, the big game is tonight! I will be there, we are taking two local priests, who are good friends of ours. :priest: :priest: It should be good! I'l report back later...

edit, spelling

He made the sign of the cross before running out onto the pitch before a game. He was scrutinised by the clubs supporters for doing this.
