franciscanheart
First off let me thank you all for the advice and PRAYERS!! I, too, have prayed about this in an attempt to figure it all out. Last night I talked with my director about everything. I explained every last detail of my decision making process and after about the twenty-five minutes that took he said, "I will support you in whatever decision you make." what an awesome man He said the same as I did, they dont NEED me at convention. They might miss me but the dont need me. Thats what he said. Also, since we are only allowed to take 25 people including the directors, it frees up a spot for someone who hasnt gone and might not be able to if i go. I've been to convention two years, soph and junior year, both years as an officer. This is really good and privilged because usually its only seniors and a few juniors if there is room. So i feel like i have gotten my fair share of convention. Another thing is that my being at convention does nothing for me really except give me an ego boost i dont need. i get to walk around with a big pink ribbon that says that im different, that im special. then i get to walk around with all of the other presidents proclaiming that we in fact are the leaders of our troupes. and people cheer and clap and they love it. anyway, pretty much the decision is that if we don't get the bid for Seussical to go to convention, i will be going to the youth conference. if in fact we do get the bid for Seussical, i will most likely be going to convention. (just thought id update) God bless, Laura Thomas

AndreaMercer
I haven't read all the replies....but, here's my 2cents. I have done Region X several times, as a teen, on staff, and as a youth minister's wife. I was also involved in fine arts in high school. If you are just getting a youth program in your parish, there will be many better spiritual experiences than Region X. It's fun, but pretty empty as far as content; certainly not life changing. Are you a senior? If you are, I would suggest attending the thesbian event since you made a committment. If not, my thoughts are just something to consiter. :-) Good luck! Sinner
I have to vote with fulfilling your previous committments. There will be other youth conferences. Fulfilling your committment to others serves God........doing what we don't necessarily want to is a sacrifice. But....if you can get someone else to fulfill your duties, I suppose there is no really bad choice.
franciscanheart
Well I thought I knew what I wanted to do, what I needed to do, and more importantly what God wanted and needed me to do, but of course I was wrong. Today I had to make a final decision on which event I would be attending. The only for sure way I would go to thespian convention was if we had gotten the bid to perform mainstage. We didn't so it was still up in the air. I was really leaning toward the conference but then my youth minister called and said that we weren't going anymore. He said there wasnt enough interest to make it affordable. So again, my parish wont be attending. God made up my mind wichita falls here i come!! Donna
Your station in life and your duty is to lend your presence and to lead that troupe at the thespian convention, no matter the VP, no matter your office being nominal. This is my opinion, of course, and fallible. But...dear Hughey, have you thought to offer doing the thespian duty as a sacrifice to our Lord? What would give Him greater glory? To do what you wish, tho that wish be good? Or to sacrifice what you wish? Our Lady of Good Counsel will help you discern what is really going on here. (hee hee). I just read the 2nd page (guilty as charged! I sometimes reply before reading everything). Well, you have a good time and mind your own affairs, not this person in the troupe, and have a GREAT time and God bless.
