Brother Adam
Good, Bad, Ugly? I picked up a copy and so far it looks like a great translation with great notes. I almost wonder why the US Church doesn't use it in it's liturgy. Any thoughts?
MichaelFilo
It's good, yo! I don't know much about it's history, but it just receives praise, not much criticizm. The parish priest here keeps his own copy, so it can't be bad. God bless, Mikey
Lil Red
i've heard it's a very poetic and beautiful translation.
Ellenita
Doesn't the New Jerusalem Bible use inclusive language that's 'gender' free? The Jerusalem Bible however is a very beautiful translation......
Laudate_Dominum
The Jerusalem Bible is Mother Angelica's favorite translation (of EWTN). I happen to like it myself, but I don't use it very often.
Crusader_4
I know a priest who also says the Jerusalem is his favourite. J. R. R. Tolkein was one of the scholars who worked on it and translated (Neat fact!) and in some copies you can find his name in it.l
cappie
The Jerusalem Bible is the Bible used in the Liturgy in Australia since 1968. It is a translation into English of the "La Bible de Jerusalem" first published in 1966. There is also the New Jerusalem Bible which uses inclusive language. There are a lot of Priests who are for gay rights, too, but that doesn't mean it's OK.
