goldenchild17
Alright, I got a project for anyone that wants it I just thought it would be interesting for me to take a look at a list of rap songs from secular artists that have a VERY STRONG Christian influence to them. If someone can give me a good thorough list I'd appreciate it. I don't listen to secular music at all. And I was just sitting at the table tonight and overheard my lil bro listening to some secular stuff(long story, but he doesn't support Christian music at all, thinks they are both just as "holy" and stuff like that). Anyways I heard a good number of the stuff he was listening to and some of it sounded pretty christian. I am just curious as to how many such songs exist that are STRONGLY Christian. And to try to fiddler the list a bit, try to include only the songs that have no cussing in it. If you feel the cussing is justifiable, then include it. Have a stab at it. I ran a search and didn't really come up with anything.
musturde
There isnt really a secular rap song that is very Christian. Some may seem like it(but u gotta listen closer). The closest one to Christian I've heard is the one by Kayne West (he cusses in the song and the rest of the cd is culture of death style), Mase (his cd was actually not parental advisory... but yeah, he kind of has something for reppin the faith) and DMX (he has one prayer track on each cd but then after the track is done ur like... what?... he doesnt exactly rep the faith in his music. Just one track every cd). Most rappers that talk about the faith in their music talk bout it in a blasphamous way (ie: Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Dmx). goldenchild17
okay. Thought it was worth a try. Just wanted the names of some good christian themed songs, but I guess they aren't there.

DemonSlayer
Alter Bridge's lyrics seems more Christian than the lyrics they had as Creed.
mulls
study Nas in depth. he's up and down, Christian and atheist, just all over the map. it'll drive you nuts. he's very very intelligent. he knows alot of history, and you have to be smart to understand his songs. he also seems to know the bible, it just hasn't seemed to penetrate his heart. for just one example out of many,in the song "Dance" off of the album God's Son, he talks about his mother being in heaven, and says "Jesus finally got his bride." now, one would have to know the bible to understand that the bride of Christ is a real thing, and that Jesus doesn't have her yet. i mean, the way he says it, its wrong, but its really clever, and points to the fact that Nas knows the truth, and is evading it for some reason. i sooooo want to sit down and talk with him and get inside his head. he would be an awesome man of the Lord if he would submit it all to Him. goldenchild17
Okay, yeah I wasn't looking for whole albums or anything like that. Just trying to find specific whole songs. I thought there'd at least be a few.

goldenchild17
And my brother, a very strong Catholic, listens to this... $#!*. I really wish there was some way I could bring him out of this...
musturde
Nas is very intelligent but I dont think he uses his knowlege in such a great way. I mean he talks about religion in a way but makes sure to be blasphemous also. He's like another Tupac...
goldenchild17
[quote name='musturde' date='Sep 11 2004, 11:15 AM'] Mase (his cd was actually not parental advisory... but yeah, he kind of has something for reppin the faith) and DMX (he has one prayer track on each cd but then after the track is done ur like... what?... he doesnt exactly rep the faith in his music. I have DJ Maj's album's(before this last one) and on it is one of the song's by the St. Louis Lunatics. So I was just wondering if there was more. Thanks anyways. Angelus
There are two sides to every story ya dig? I wont say too much more but look a little deeper than your binders allow u to and get to the root of the things u judge so harshly and without doubt. I feel you guys and what ur saying but there is somthing deeper than all the sex, drugs, and sin in som (keyword) secular music. I know not all will agree but I dont think all music needs to be cookie cutter Christian because if it is than thats not reality and its false because not everything is peachs and cream and thanks and praise to God. Some in fact most rap artists arent justified and their subject matters or the way they are distributed to the masses but look at the artists, the industry, the people, and life and influences outside the Church and in the Church. We are all products of the system even the people who think they are high, mighty, and unchanged by society. U may be chosen by Father God but wake up and see ur are also slaves to this systematic society. Peace and love.
ATF90
Yeah, I acually heard one of DMX's songs that talked about the faith. She is not a rapper but, Michell Williams of Destiney's Child has made a christian album.
musturde
DMX made probably a somewhat religious song and many prayers but he really confuses me. The cats probably confused. If you wanna try someone who isn't really doing wacky stuff but still can rap the mic in the secular section with everyone, try Mase. There's lots of controversy over him but his cd aint Parental Advisary.
musturde
Angelus, I agree with you in a way but I've been through an obsession with rap. I've seen it all, some of it's good, a lot of it's carp. I'm sure the artist will have some messages attached and it's interesting to see these messages connected to their rap but all in all, there's really not much of a big connection to much good. For Gangsta rap, it's mostly prosts (not prots lol), weed, guns, cars, and who you're gunna kill next. They reason that if someone shoots you, you should go back and shoot him and they both end up dead. Then for party rap, it's less killing and more bragging and party but more sex.
