Paladin D
Is it vain wanting to look good? For example, I want to start working out more, exercising, and etc. Why? I want to be more healthy, in-shape, feel and look good. What constitutes something as vain? Thanks in advance.
Dave
In a nutshell, if you were doing it so that you could be God's gift to women, that would definitely be vain. If you're doing it to gain more confidence, that wouldn't be vain.

BurkeFan
No, I don't think so. After all, you are building the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Ash Wednesday
That's right! Just kiss your biceps and say "Yo man, I'm puttin' bricks on the shrine!"

When they answer no, flex your muscles and say, "They're right here!!!"
shelly_freak
I would say as long as you don't flaunt it then it's ok. Considering most of your motive is to feel better and be healthy it's not vain at all, God doesn't want you to be a couch potato.
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
Couch potatoes are evil vegetables... :skitzo: If you want to work out and stuff, just to impress the ladies or show off your manly-ness... nuh-uh... no way... Try making this a prayer to God while you work out, make a deal like Bl. Mother Teresa did... for every letter she wrote she asked God to free a soul from purgatory, or something like that... you can do something like that too! shelly_freak
I have asked myself this same thing and I decided that as long as I was just doing it so I felt better then it's ok. I was running yesterday and rolled over on my ankle so I'm not sure how much exercissing I'm gonna be doing in the next few days.
Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I need to start doing something soon... Well, I do have the many flights of stairs to climb just to get to my dorm... I live on the third floor... and my design class is on the 3rd floor and so is my english class... and all the buildings only have stairs, except for a few with elevators... Paladin D
To quote Anakin from The Phantom Menance - "Yippie!" I don't know why but, I'm just awful curious on how much I can build up if I work out enough. Though there is a small thought every now and then pops up in my mind that says "You can get girls!" Muscles don't make a man, his character and idenity in Christ does. Real women would rather have a guy with character and an idenity in Christ, not a jerk who has a "perfect" body. But like I said, the reason I want to workout and build up my body is because... - I want to be stronger - Want to be more in shape - I was inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone - When I get older, I wouldn't sag so much if I make it a normal routine to workout. Not to mention, I would still have a lot of energy! ...but like always, Satan is also playing with my mind about the girl part, so I try my best to ignore it (I'm not the macho type either).
