How To Respond With Charity

first let me say this fuzzy bunny has taught me much about my faults. I thank you all for your patience with me. I simply wish to share what I have learned.

Now

Let us consider two responses I have seen in apologetics:

The First is an Ad Hominem Response.

"I cant believe that you..." which translates to "you are stupid because..."
I have seen much of this recently and I have seen it on Phatmass, from people who hold the truth, which is sad. I think that it would make Baby Jesus Cry! This response is not charitable. Sarcasm rarely, if ever is, espcially in apologetics.

Instead:

When addressing what appears to be a rediculous claim, and this is espcially true in apologetics, first look for something true that you can affirm.

Some times this means agreeing with them...Like for example affirming the idea of works righteousness as worng...becuase it is protestant proganda skewing what Catholics actually believe.

Then ask them to consider the possiblity of the alternaitve, and state the truth.

(which in the previous case would mean stating Catholics really believe about Grace and Faith saving us)

And then it helps to encourage charity by thanking the person you are responding for thier charity.

Charity in all things!

Remember it is about winning the person not the argument, no one likes to corrected by some one full of pride, but if Jesus said something to you, it could change your like. Let Jesus speak for you!

PS if this should be in the other forum let me know.

PPS I think this counts as my first track.
"I cant believe that you..." which translates to "you are stupid because..."
Translates as: "How the heck you come up with that".
