No. Hurricanes happen to come by Florida often, and I think it would be safe to say that if God was punishing us everytime, then we are awful people and he would of burned our cities. Using this logic one can say that when a war started in a country is punishment on the people, or say an earthquake. These are occurances, and should not be attributed to the Lord as a form of punishment. God suffeciently warns prior to punishing people. CreepyCrawler Posted September 8, 2004 Share Posted September 8, 2004 The US isn't the worst country ever. Look at the human rights abuses in China or the Netherlands (too much to list). There are countries that do worse things than we do, I think. It's quite self-centered to think that God would focus on punishing the US only, and only a few states at that, if He were going to punish the world for sinning. I have been trying to show my family the truth for quiet sometime. My mom seemed to be coming around until my sister got to her and now im back to ground zero. I had her reading 'The Lambs Supper' from Scott Hahn and learning more about Intercession of the Saints and scriptures and all, she was understanding alot of the stuff the Church Taught...but now she put the book down half way through it and shy's away from the discussion. Hey MC Just, wasnt your sister like that as well and then came around to join the Church? What did you do and say to her to show her the truth? Besides handcuffing her and dragging her to RCIA.
