MrsFrozen
That's a terrible idea. I hope they don't do that. Could you voice your concerns to the priest?
Colleen
This is terrible. It's Mass, not a serve-yourself buffet.

Howie
why don't they just dip the host into the blood and then give it to the person? it's individual and doesn't cause the problems of individual cups.
That is what they do where I attend Mass. The priest prefers this method due to the problems with sickness and disease. I actually prefer taking the Body and Blood of Christ in this manner. Norseman82
It made me think of Protestant services too. And Dixie cups? NO, NO, A BILLION BILLION TIMES NO!!!! They can tear and the Blood would spill! I remember reading during the SARS scare in Canada a year or two ago that they simply gave Communion under one species. Am I one of the few people here who remember when communion under both species was the exception rather than the rule?????
qfnol31
If it's going to cause abuses, you stop communicating under both Species.
That's the biggest, fattest, most obvious "DUH" in the history of the world. Individual cups are the worst idea in the long sad history of bad ideas. Ash Wednesday
Ooh I know you're not defending the idea! Sorry if it came across that way.
No, it didn't come across that way, don't worry. I was just self conscious that others would think I was defending it. Guest T-Bone
Ash- That "Church Faithful" designation put my mediocre doubt about that to rest....
Ash Wednesday
I attended a non-catholic church service once that had the grape juice in little teeny plastic cups and the little crackers. Not to sound like a snobby Catholic, but I was stunned, thinking, "how is this a holy remembrance of Christ's last supper?"

Oik
I hope Dust finds out what the deal is. Personally, I prefer communion under both kinds. I enjoy and appreciate the significance of communion under both species, however, I wish they'd bring back communion rails and the paten (like they're supposed to)!
