Brother Adam
Man, I am so done with Dialup internet. I tried to connect for 6 1/2 hours last night and never got anywhere and threw a huge hissy fit (thankfully nothing is broken besides my knuckles), as my wife can attest to. Looking for suggestions: What is the most reliable service that you know of? A service where I will be able to always get on in a couple of minutes, stay on, and not have to worry about the carp you go through with dialup? peach_cube
I have verizon DSL, it comes with my phone service. I don't believe it is contract based. It's just like canceling your phone service when you move. It runs on your phone line and they set you up all the equipment for free. Also I got it as a discount since I signed up for phone service at the same time. It's about 30 bucks a month. Since it runs off of the phone line I can still go online when the power is out. I have the computer and router hooked up to a battery back up/surge protector. Overall, I've used Cable and this is just as fast, also no problems phone wise. Brother Adam
Yeah, what are the prices you guys are paying? I had to completely uninstall NetZero Highspeed and reinstall it and I was just able to get on again this morning. Crazy. I can't afford not to have a reliable connection. peach_cube
Since DSL is with my phone line my bill usually breaks down as 30 bucks for all the basic stuff (limited long distance, unlimited local calls, call waiting, caller ID, etc), 30 bucks for the DSL, 10 bucks for 10-10-987 calls, so it's usually 65 to 72, depending on the 10-10 calls. edit-->but then I don't have cable tv and when I priced that It was about 80 a month for basic cable and cable internet, but they had a 80 dollar setup fee. [/quote] Frozencell and I have Netzero High Speed, too. We have had the same problem you're describing. What's worse, you have to pay for Netzero customer service. That bugs me! At some point, we're going to switch to cable or DSL, but we would like to wait a few months to pay some things off before we add another bill. I hear the Earthlink high speed service is good.. Good luck!
Brother Adam
MrsFrozen, So you know, call billing support and describe the hassle you are going through, tell them that you want to cancel your account. They gave me 4 free months for my trouble. It might be worth it so you don't have to pay for crappy service while you are waiting to switch
