Novena to St. Michael

&

All The Holy Angels

The Ninth Day

Most holy Angels, you whose zeal for the interest of God, wherever they need to be defended, carries you through the universe more rapidly than lightning, protect His cause in our souls, and in virtue of the Divine Blood, obtain for us the signal grave of final perseverance

St. Michael, the Archangel, and all the Holy Angels, protect us in our combats, that we may not perish in the tremendous judgement of God.

Glory be to the Father, and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Conclusion

Antiphon: O most glorious Prince, Michael, the Archangel, be mindful of us, here and everywhere, and always pray to the Son of God for us.

Verse: I will praise Thee, O God, in the sight of Thy Angels.

Response: I will adore Thee in Thy holy Temple and I will confess Thy Name.

Let us Pray:

O God, Who hast in an admirable order disposed the ministry of angels and of men, grant in Thy goodness that our life on earth may be protected by those who in heaven always assist before Thy throne ready to do Thy will. Through Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.

(With grateful thanks to the 'Pray With The Heart' website).

For those who have not heard of the Angelic choirs:

There are nine Angelic Choirs. Catholic theology has

much to say about them and I cannot vie with the

theologians; however I can pass on that:

* these choirs are a hierarchy;

which is why the First day of the novena is addressed

to "The Seraphim"; for the Seraphim is the highest

choir.

You will notice that each choir is invoked for a partic-

lar virtue or grace. Remember that. If you're a dis-

obedient traditionalist you'd best hound the Thrones

and Dominations pronto!

*also of interest is that St. Michael and the Archangels

belong to nearly the lowest angelic choir. I belive Lucifer

was a Seraph (seraphim); or possibly a Cherub (cherubim);

But he was/is not lower than those two; and St. Michael, lowly

devistating archangel is named in Scripture, having fought

"the dragon"; and most interesting, in the Book of Jude (all

of one page, but what an anathema!) says that the evil one

was about the dead body of Moses, about to do some awful

deed one supposes, when Michael the Archangel showed up

and rebuked him!++ I'm sure Luther hated the book of Jude;

angels and Moses and anathema's all in one page.

++ the rebuke was very humble and totatlly powerful:

that "the Lord judge thee [the evil one]."
