jasJis
YOu must not know your flashlight manual. Any battery operated device will tell you not to mix old and new batteries together, they can explode. When you are screened, the screeners will operate most battery devices to make sure their what you say they are. If they had old and new batteries mixed, it could exploded. Consider the number of devices that are tested at the airport. It's surprising it hasn't happened before. A few years ago, there was a 60Minute piece on this and they interviewed people who had been burned or blinded from this. I'm actually a little paranoid about this and will throw away and loose battery so it doesn't get mixed with new batteries in a radio or something. Guest T-Bone
They will explode if disposed of by fire or recharged. This has to do with the heating effect. I do not beleive that a battery would explode and rupture a flashlight case just from the light being momentarily turned on. I still smell a cover-up.
