I we aren't given what we want, we make a big deal out of it... I can see it all now. We deny the marriage, they make a big deal out of it and give the church a VERY bad rap, and the could sue at the very worst...

Ash Wednesday
hey what's wrong w/ the girl proposing? not necessarily in britney's case since we're not exactly sure if she's a nutcase or not, but in general, i don't see anything wrong w/ the girl proposing.
First of all, she proposed to him and bought the ring. For herself. That seems pretty desperate to me. Call me traditional, but if you're dating, and proposing to, a man with a reputation of being a "player", then I don't see this as being a very smart thing to do. Are we sure Britney is a nutcase? I think it's pretty safe to suspect she is. To me, if a man can't ask a girl out or ask her to marry him, then who is to say he is all that ready and willing, or ever will be? Believe me, I never asked a guy to marry me, but in the past, I, the female, was the one to "make the first move" with a guy I dated, and it was nothing but a disaster in the end, and a wasted three years. What I first perceived as "shyness" was nothing but indecisivenes and a lack of direction about relationships in general, which proved to be one of the biggest reasons I broke up with him. There's no harm in dropping hints about letting someone know that you want to date, or later on, get married. But even if a guy is really "shy" or "nervous" -- if he really cares and has a backbone, he will get over it and make the move.
Guest T-Bone
I'm one of those shy types. Fear of rejection. You put your heart out on the line, only to have it stomped into the dirt. :plunger:

Guest T-Bone
I did. I was strung along for a while, then dumped by the cold, heartless woman. Did I mention that I'm not bitter at all?

Ash Wednesday
Aww.... I'm sorry she did that. I certainly think stringing people along and being dishonest is horrible. I didn't break up with my boyfriend until I was starting to have serious doubts. I didn't wait long to bring it up with him. It was like, the same day. He wasn't very upset, to be honest. He was kind of "oh well" about it.
