Hurricane Frances

By the way, Vera, they say it's more likely that the storm won't be traveling very fast, but it will still be as powerful... We could be dealing with Frances for up to 20 hours.

Yeah, the slower it is, the more powerful, becuase it pushes a greater amount of water and the storm surge can be deadly.

Pray that it's low tide when it hits. :(

Prayers, Mark!

Yeah, and you get to go back to KY to see the family this weekend. Man, why didn't I plan that, too?! I don't especially want to go through this hurricane, though I don't know how bad Jacksonville will be hit yet. Hmm, maybe I'll drive to Owensboro after all :)

I really really HATE hurricanes.

I've never been in one, actually...Irene wasnt really bad, it was almost a Tropical Storm anyway.

Everything in FL is either being evacuated/will be hit or ABSOLUTELY BOOKE DOUT

So we have to stay unless we fly somewhere, which we wont

It's sort of argh to sit here and look outside and know this huge monster is tearing through the bahamas and will be here soon...and we cant escape

Oh well...just pray it doesnt hit the same areas charley hit

Even though we don't have much to worry about I'm glad I will be in KY when the thing hits.

we are very close to the beach...but unless we fly up north to another state we can't leave, because everything's either booked solid or in evacuation zone.

so we'll just have to stay here and shutter up the best we can...

I really hope it doesn't hit where charley hit

To Vera, and all you other Floridians in the path of the storm, I thought I would pass along a prayer from a book I have.

Prayer to Avert Storms
Let all the winds of evil be driven from your house,
we implore you O Lord, and may the raging tmpests
be subdued, through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
world without end.
AMEN

You guys are all in my prayers. I have an uncle who lived through Charley in his house in Ft. Meyers, so I know how nerve racking this is for families. :(
