Speaking In Tounges

Yikes I don't even know where to start. When I say the gift of healing I mean the spiritual gift of healing as given out by the Holy Spirit. The same as the gift of helps, administrations, teaching , etc...

Have you ever seen a teacher of the Bible stand up and say, "I was going to teach today but God didn't activate my gift, so I can't". No, that does not happen because when that teacher/preacher received the gift it became one with them and became part of them. They teach/preach as natural as they talk. Spiritual gifts are ours to use as we chose. God gives us gifts to complete local assemblies. So each individual church can operate as a body (see 1 cor. 12). God gave a select few the gift of healing when the NT churches were just forming. Those with the gift, like Peter would heal ALL who came to them, whether the person had faith or not. After healing the people then those watching would no the authority they had and Peter or whoever did the healings would share the gospel. As the "church body" grew and the scripture/ epistles and then the bible became more easily obtained the need for authenticating authority went away and so with it the actual "gift" of healing. That being a gift that allowed a person to heal anyone at anytime of their own chosing. If anyone had the gift now they could clear a hospital in one evening. The gift would be the same as Peter had if it stii existed. No one can clear a hospital so the gift is gone. As always throughout history God can heal in response to our prayers if he so choses but that is not the gift of healing.

Please address my earlier argument on tongues, that they were a "sign" that pointed to the judgement and destruction of Isreal. Paul says Tongues are a sign and then the next verse quotes Isaiah 28, which speaks of this coming judgement and destruction. (see (1 cor. 14). The judgement came in 70AD and the house of Isreal was scattered. Once the thing the sign pointed to was done no sign is needed. A "curve ahead" sign is never placed after the curve, they are always before the curve.

OK, just for fun address my arguments with counter arguments. Thanks, and No, saying "I believe the gift of healing still exists" is not and argument. The pope said so is better maybe but still not an argument.

In Love and Truth,
Brian
