Pete-ster
Before the UN votes on this, perhaps they should consult the French, the Germans, and the Russians, afterall, if you ask them, and the American media, they are the only ones in the world that can make any decision. Or wait, would they keep the same months? I won't go for it. I would not teach it to my kids. The UN is going to become increasingly irrelevant if they don't stop being idiots.
No no no... they're going to create all new months, each with a theme. It will go like this: 1st month: gay pride month 2nd month: family planning month 3rd month: America smells of elderberries month 4th month: put on a condom month 5th month: let's be proud of being gay again month 6th month: talk about the bad guys and do nothing month 7th month: political correctness appreciation month 8th month: appreciation for those who fought for freedom: rock stars and celebrities 9th month: we don't believe in God month 10th month: take your gender neutral child to work month 11th month: save the whales and abort the babies month 12th month: alternative religion appreciation month 13th month: why not? more gay pride month oh, and as for the one extra day every year, they'll let us go to church that day. The New Years day of the new UN calendar corresponds to the liberal's favorite holiday: April 15.

peach_cube
The Gregorian calender is a thing of beauty... from my "Discovering the Cosmos" by R. C. Bless
A few thousand years must pass before our (the Gregorian) calender will be even one day out of phase with the seasons
When that day does come the simple solution is to just subtract an extra day during a leap year around that time and you are good for the next couble of thousand years. peach_cube
Also some other neat tidbits about the Gregorian Calender...
Catholic countries adopted the Gregorian calender first (Instituted in October 1582, 10 days were eleminated in October in order to get the seasons back into agreement due to errors of the Julian calender). Britain and its empire, including the American colonies, did not change until 1752. ( This is why George Washingtons birthday/ Presidents day never makes sense; George was born on February 11 in the Julian calender and the 22nd on the Gregorian!) Czarist Russia never did adopt the Gregorian calender. The revolutionary government did, however; so the anniversary of the "October" Revolution was celebrated in November in the Soviet Union.

track2004
There is no way this will ever work. I mean Indiana can't even biuld a highway between Evansville and Indy, we've been debating it for 25 years! And unless America is behind this I really doubt it will happen. Silly UN
