Howie
During my time in a seminary my vocation director and I spent alot of time discussing prayer. I had told him about some of my personal experiences where I had been consumed with the Holy Spirit. (I will go into detail with any Catholic that has an open mind if you pm or email me) Even an event where I had seen a huge procession of angles. I will not go into detail about this in this post as not many people are openminded concerning this. He told me that he believed it and stated that most people did not experience this and when they did they were usually older. I always believed that when it comes to your relationship with God you will get as much as you put into it. It may not be this way for everyone but it has been this way for me. One particular priest did not have the same feelings about this as my vocation director did. His view was that God did not interact with us individually in a close and personal manner. Anyone have something to add to this?? If you have any stories feel free to email me if you don't feel like putting up a post.
Howie
I know this post may sound really out there but please keep an open mind. I believe it is a good think to share how God moves in your personal life. Anyone else in here feel the same? People love to talk about scary stuff like how they witnessed a evil spirit or something simular but I seldomly hear people discuss things that pertain to God and how he blesses us in different ways supernaturally. Thy Geekdom Come
I cannot speak to the particulars, but I had two comments. 1. We do not get as much as we put in, we get much, much more. 2. God interacts personally with many people. How else would one explain virtually the entire Bible, the ecstacies and stigmatas and odor of sanctity and so many other interactions between God and saintly men? [/quote] You are correct in saying that you get more from God than what you give.. I should have worded that differently. I should have said that if you want alot of God, you need to give alot of yourself. Hope you are getting my point. As far as the stigmata and other things like this I believe that I was told that they were just rare instances where God uses people to help his Church. I'm glad to see more people who believe that God deals with each us as individuals in a close and personal manner.
Scofizzle
God most deifnately interacts with us personally. He leads us, gives us direction. We just have to be willing to listen. God interacts with us personally everyday, he gave us himself in the Eucharist. Our Lord makes himself part of our physical and spiritual bodies. How much more personal can it get? Just happy to know that God deals with us personally. That is what I draw from this. Good to enjoy it while you are in it. jasJis
I've never experienced anything 'supernatural' like that. I do get feelings of assurance about certain things. It's weird. I'ts like you were wondering the outcome of a story, and then you see the movie. It's tangible and definite, the difference between being unsure, or being absolutely positive about something. I would probably freak out if I had visions. It certainly not something I want or desire. For sure God takes that into account in how He manifests Himself to each of us personally. dUSt
When I was a child I saw a small boy standing next to my bed, just staring at me. I closed my eyes for a few seconds, and when I opened them back up, he was gone. That's the only supernatural experience I've ever had. Still don't know what to make of it. It's not like I necessarily know what's going to happen, but I have a peace about a situation that's otherwise not explainable. It's like God gives me a special ability to trust him. The other thing that happens to me is really unusual dreams. I don't remember my dreams often, but sometimes I'll have dreams that are extraordinarily detailed visually and plot-wise. Some are extraordinarily beautiful, some are frightening, and on a couple of occasions I've had dreams that were later very nearly duplicated by life.
