The One True Church

You have no right to disprove a God-given vision.

You do have the right to disagree.

If I said, that God told me that...the Catholic Church was definatly Christ's Church. What would you think?

Would you disprove that vision? Since by what you believe, all believers are Christ's church?

Defintions of Disprove and Disagree (taken from Webster's dictionary)...

Disagree - 1 : to fail to agree, 2 : to differ in opinion,

3 : to cause discomfort or distress .

Disprove - 1 : to prove to be false or wrong.

...both are relatively the same. If you disagree, you believe it's false or wrong. Disprove just takes it a step further.

Amen.

And the fact that Steve's "vision" was historically inacurate just adds fuel to the fire.

But, whether or not it was "from God", this thread has turned out pretty educational (hopefully :P )

I think if it was from God he would be able to come up with something other than Apples and Oranges, but then again anything more complex may not have worked. I mean if an individual cant grasp a simple thing like "This IS My Body" then maybe Apples and Oranges were just right.

But im sure it was just the imagination working and not God, for the simple fact that it contridicts History and the Teachings of Christ's Church, to say that the Apples today are in a different field, but claiming that the field that the oranges are in are the original field is total error that can be proved through History.

I did hear one confession in that statement from Steve...he is an Orange, and he Admitted that before Oranges were Apples, and the Apples were the first. So why choose an Orange that man made? Why not go back to the God Given Apples. Since you admit that the Apples were here and given by the Apple Creator.

2 Thessalonians 2: 11-15

11

Therefore, God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe the lie,

12

that all who have not believed the truth but have approved wrongdoing may be condemned.

13

But we ought to give thanks to God for you always, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in truth.

14

To this end he has (also) called you through our gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15

Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.

God may have sent Steve a vision, a deceiving power...so that you might abandon the traditions which St. Paul tells us to "hold fast" to, since in Steve's words, "traditions smell of elderberries," and then we could all embrace the lies of the Reformers and become protestant!

It doesn't need to. Especially when you are not Catholic...that would be silly :P

Sorta like me saying "Allah is my best buddy....although I don't believe in him"

So, now Catholics don't believe in God, is that it, Robyn? One thing about you fundies, accuracy and truth are certainly not your forte! "Visions" of apples and oranges, maybe...emotional hype, maybe, but not accuracy and truth.

How do I know? 2 reasons:

1. GOD doesn't lie

2. Steve doesn't lie

oh, and the Holy spirit doesn't lie  ;)

Two out of three ain't bad.

THe mormons all claim they have messages from the Holy Spirit.

THe Muslims claim they have messages from the Holy Spirit.

THe Calvinists, JWs, methodists, lutherans , baptists, and pentecostals ALL claim to be led by the Spirit.

But the "Spirit" seems to tell them all DIFFERENT things.

So does the Spirit have bad communication skills, or what?

Who exactly are we to believe Robyn?

They don't always run... sometimes they change the subject.

I could never understand it, if I was in their shoes if someone proved my church wrong, then I would keep digging for an answer... not change the subject or run. And if I found my church to be wrong, I would change for Christ.

I do not understand how people want to be ignorant of the Truth. There can be only one fullness of Truth... unless they think Jesus is a fairytale.

I think it's because they base their truth on their feelings. It's especially hard for non-Catholic fundamentalists to see that they're wrong, no matter how often they're proven wrong, because they just feel in their heart that what they believe and have been taught is true. But they forget that truth isn't based on feelings. Such people need to start thinking with their head, not their heart.

I don't even think Steve claimed to have a visionand that that vision was infallibly presented him by God. He was just chillin' with the Lord and thought of something that helped him try to understand the differences he was having with other people here at phatmass. We can't prove him wrong, we can disagree, and that doesn't mean that either he or God was lying.
