Ellenita
OK, I tried to find this article on line but can't - it's a bit long! It's a shocking article. From the Catholic Herald 27/8/04:
Woman to sue hospital after Doctor leaves aborted baby's head in her womb. A woman is considering taking legal action against a hospital after the doctor who aborted her baby left the head of the child behind in her womb. Davina Chambers, 29, of South London, was horrified when her severed baby's head came out of her body the evening she returned home from her operation. She and her former partner found themselves loking at the tiny face of their unborn child, seeing perfectly formed eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The head measured in the region of four centimetres across. Ms Chambers became pregnant last winter with her fourth child, but she had just been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, a disease eating away at her liver. In January she was admitted to King's College Hospital, central London, suffering from jaundice. "The doctors wanted me to stay in the hospital, but after a week I told them that they had to let me out because I had to go home to take care of my three children," she told the black newspaper The Voice. "My children have always been my priorities. They're my angels." Instead of staying in hospital, Ms Chambers became an outpatient, attending the hospital for check ups every two weeks. It was during a routine medical test that she discovered she was 12 weeks pregnant. "At the time I was taking eight tablets a day and had all this radiation from the scans so I couldn't believe that I could be pregnant," she said. Ms Chambers then made the difficult decision to have an abortion. She said "I started thinking about it. Here I am very ill, already with three children and I was very depressed because of the medication I was on." She was booked into the hospital for the procedure and also chose to have the "contraceptive" coil inserted. "When I woke up on the ward they told me that I had had three scans and everything was fine," she said. But once Ms Chambers returned home she received a terrible shock. "At midnight, my ex-partner knocked on the door to check if I was all right....I went to the bathroom and as I was sitting there, I just felt something slip out of me as if I had just given birth. i looked in the toilet and saw this lump that seemed to have a bone in it. So I showed it to my former partner. "We just broke down and cried at what we were seeing. We couldn't believe it." She added: "I phoned an ambulance and they took me to the hospital to make sure that no other parts were left inside me. They said I could have died if it had stayed inside me." Ms Chambers was able to discuss the situation with the doctor who had performed her abortion. She said "He leaned over me and said, 'I am so sorry. In all the procedures I've done, I've never come across this before.' "He even tried to take the head away, but I said I wanted to keep it because we wanted to have a proper burial." Ms Chambers confirmed that she is now seeking leagal advice to take a case against the hospital. "I feel as if I am going insane now," she said. "I can't just let this happen to me." A spokeswoman for the hospital said: "We are aware of this patient and we did receive a complaint. We are now investigating but we cannot relase any information until our investigation is complete." Prof Jack Scarisbrick, national chairman of Life, the pro-life charity, said he would be willing to back Ms Chambers in her case against the hospital. He said: "e hope she will sue the hosptial. We will give her support for bringing a case against the hospital that traumatised her." He added: "This poor woman will take a long time to recover. One fears she will suffer post abortion trauma of the most profound kind." Prof Scarisbrick siad he feared "thousands" more women would suffer similar experiences if the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS), the largest private provider of abortion in the country, is given the green light to offer women "DIY" abortions in her their own homes using abortion pills. The BPAS is threatening to sue the government if its demands are not met on the grounds that a refusal would be apolitical rather than a medical decision. The clinics want women who have abortions at home to simply flush the corpses of their babies down their toilets. Figures released last week revealed a sharp rise in the number of abortions carried out in the UK in the last 12 months, particularly on women aged between 20 and 24 years. At the same time, three dimensional images of foetuses "walking" in the womb published earlier this year, have prompted calls from almost 100 MPs for the 1967 Abortion Act to be reviewed. On Monday, it was reported that a backbencher was likely to bring forward a Private Members Bill in November to reduce the 24 week limit on abortions. The suggestion was greeted with caution by Anthony Ozimic, political secretary of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children. "Any attempt to reform the law would be wide open to hijack by the pro-abortion majority in Parliament," he said.
Noel's angel
it throws up that old question about abortion, is it always right? yes, she had a disease, but was it right for her to have the abortion in the first place/ nothing is ever black and white............ cmotherofpirl
Some things in life are black and white. Abortion is never an option, and that is as black and white as it gets.

livingHimloud
"The clinics want women who have abortions at home to simply flush the corpses of their babies down their toilets." what part of that is right? a bad chance is better than no chance, that baby and all aborted babies never get a chance! Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. melania
Noel's angel
indeed, they dont care, its just a job for them, there was actually a docotr who had preformed thousands of abortions, and it was only after he had watched one taking place that he vowed never to preform another abortion again, we had to watch one in RE class one day and it was horrible. abortion is wrong

Luthien
Whats ironic about this, is that I know Catholics who are pro-choice... Then again, you cannot be both.
