lol, i just think that the whole pm experience is being ruined by totally pointless threads, pushing other, more important ones down pages so as u have to trawl through pages and pages of threads before u get to the really important ones, grrrrrr

Again:

If you find one you'd like to keep track of, either subscribe to it, or track it. That way, you'll be brought right to it, and not have to go through all the fluff.

exactly, personal threads dont bother me as much, but people just start threads to have a conversation with their friends, and as far as im aware, that is not what phatmass is for
but we shouldnt have to do that, no need to be so sharp
I'm not trying to be sharp, just trying to look at it through the eyes of those that like the fluffy threads.

I, myself, use the subscribtion service and tracking service so that I don't have to go through all the fluff and search all the pages. But you also have to realize that it's a public board with hundreds of different personalities. To say that we should get rid of all personal threads and fluff threads isn't fair to them. To say that we should just allow the fluff threads to take over the board is not right either. For now, we just need to let the board take its course in its life. It'll come back with less fluff and more substance. Whatever doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger.

I really didn't mean to come across sharp, and if I did, I apologize. That was not the intent.

The intent was simply to give a solution other than saying that the threads should be banned, deleted, edited. There's two groups of people on Open Mic. The ones that come for the fluff, and the ones that come for the substance. Right now there's more fluffy people than substance people.

ok, i understand, im not saying that we should get rid of ALL spam and personal threads, its just people should know when to stop, a bit of spam now and again is fine to clear the head, but there is too much at the minute and people are doing it for badness now

Then I think the solution is to get more people of substance on the Open Mic, and flush out the fluff threads by posting, and keep posting on threads of substance.

I think it'd also make it tidier if we could make about one "news" thread a day, where everyone can post news artciles. Because sometimes you have a bunch and I, for example, post them all separately, which really clutters up things. One a day maybe :D

yeah, i think ur right, but the fluffers seem to be the ones who are posting all the time and it seems that theyll just keep making threads, but we should give it a go

Open mic covers lots of territory and there is room here for everyone. Sometimes there are too many personal threads, sometimes there are too many news horrors posted as well. It balances out in the end. There are 1300 people on the member rolls now.

If you are interested in a particular topic, the tracking and subscribing options work well as Mrs B pointed out. I enjoy reading all the different threads here, because everyone is so delightfully different [ and wacky as well] :cyclops:
