EcceNovaFacioOmni
Yeah, you're right in that there have only been two ex cathedra statements, but there are other infallible teachings. Church councils and consensus of the Fathers for instance. Read up on the levels of the magisterium, and you'll get a good picture of what is infallible. God bless. Theoketos
FYI : the Pope can be infalliable even when he does not speak ex cathedra (those w things you're referring to are ex cathedra statements). anytime he speaks as pontiff, from the chair of Peter, on faith and morals, in communion with the bishops, he is infalliable. therefore, so is that quote!
Thank you so much sister! When the Holy Father speaks on matters of Faith and Morals while he addresses the entirity of the Faithful and the world, he speaks infalliably! Oik
Hey, if it were up to me, there would be women as priests. I see no reason why they can't be. Problem is, it's not up to me. Not in the slightest. It's not even up to the Roman Pontiff, becaus God has made His decision and that is final.
If this did happen, then nothing would come of it. If women were to be ordained, consecration would not be valid. Ex. Having pre-marital sex doesn't prove that pre-marital sex isn't sinful. God has commanded it. We can choose to do this, but in actually, authority has been delegated and must work within the confines of its capability. Ordaining women priests would not give them valid orders, simply because they can not be validly ordained.
