Ever Wanted To

Have you ever been discussing the faith with another Catholic who just refutes everything you say? What is your reaction?

Well..... I usually have a combination of the first two. I polietly leave the conversation but inside I'm disgusted. I have a short fuse sometimes.

I don't ever get refuted endlessly. If you are semi-well versed in apologetics you can defend the faith, fairly well.

If you meant, however, when they just go blah blah , your wrong, blah blah, prove history, blah blah, go worship Mary you antiChrist follower.

I generally point out how silly they are, and leave the conversation.

God bless,

Mikey

Well thank you. But yes, I am not the angry one in my family (it tends to be the youngest, usually). So it's not a problem keeping my cool. I do have a problem with discussions that fall into an abyss of stupid remarks, however.

God bless,

Mikey

The question was regarding a conversation with a fellow Catholic, not a Catholic-basher.

For me, this would mean that I would be conversing with a dissident, a liberal, or someone who is lukewarm and ignorant of the Faith.

My reaction is generally either to admonish or to educate, depending upon the person's mindset. It's hardest for me when the person is an elder relative of mine and is ignorant. It's hard to point out to, say, your godmother, that she doesn't know the Faith very well! :(

Well, if they argueing about the stuff like abortion or gay marriage, you pull out the bible. If they reject it, tough cookies, in a Catholic debate, it's enough to end it there.

God bless,

Mikey

older relatives are the worst. They think you're just so wonderful for being concerned but they dismiss what you're saying as childish inexperience. I love it!

you're lucky. it's a huge stumbling block when your family thinks you're a conservative nut because they refuse to educate themselves.
