Sojourner
OK, so I go to a parish that's not my home parish for confession, and usually my confessor ends up being this really sweet, but forgetful, 90-year-old priest. Last time I went, he forgot to give me a penance. (I'm guessing my sins were just that shocking that he forgot). Is this a problem? He still absolved me and everything, just no penance. BLAZEr
Thank the Lord, and go home free! If you really want to, do your own penance. My spiritual director in Chile told me that I should do a Rosary in thanksgiving for when a priest doesn't give me a penance. I laughed and said "Wow, that's a bigger penace than I usually get!" To which he responded "Yes, but this one is out of your love." He was a tough cookie! Don't worry, you're still forgiven!
