Thy Geekdom Come
My home parish is open 24/7, but the Newman Center here isn't. I also haven't seen a time for adoration and benediction...I definitely need to ask if they do this...
Spiritual_Arsonist
My parish, typical of most around here, is locked in between Masses and other funtions.
RemnantRules
well ours isn't. i wish we had a small chapel that was open 24/7 that way we could still go there and pray.
Thomas Michael
Ours is locked outside of mass and adoration hours, but there is a side door with a push button lock thingy and regulars all know the code and can get in anytime they want. It's awesome to drive or walk by the church and think, "Hey, I wanna go in and visit Jesus!"
That's how it's set up at this one church in Arlington, Texas. The Eucharistic Chapel has a door to the outside with a number lock, and anyone who knows the code can punch it in to obtain access. The church itself is a modernist design, so the architecture is nothing to write home about. But it's nice how they have it set up so anyone can come in for Adoration at any time. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
No, I was thinkin about that not too long ago. I think a church should be somewhere that is always open because I know that there have been times when I've wanted to just go and sit, it's very calming when not many people are around.
Shelly, our church is open if there are people inside using it. If there is no one, it is locked. We have a seprerate chapel, but not one for Perpetual Adoration, which would help enormusly at our parish I think. Most of the time the church is locked after the last meeting in the church, which is sometimes in the afternoon during the week, even on Sundays, and remains locked until the priest comes in to prepare for the earliest Mass that day. I wish we had a keypad thing where the faithful could go get the passcode, and visit Jesus whenever they need to. Jesus is very lonely in our parish. Janana8706
Our adoration chaple is open for anyone, 24/7 to best of my knowledge there is someone in there all the time. Any one can get in the door to get to adoration, but to get to the church you'd have to go thru the adoration room, and yea, you'd b seen.
