Ash Wednesday

Sorta.

The door to the main church is locked at night, but there is access for regular parishioners at the church (generally ones familiar with the church and do volunteer work) or do perpetual adoration in the adoration chapel. We have a key to the adoration room that has a key to the church.

So basically the general public, not usually with the church probably wouldn't know how to get in at night, but if you were a regular, chances are you could.

See i like that idea...and i would feel very comfortable with that i just i dunno sometimes i just want to go into Church and pray but often its locked or even just show up for confession etc. I think there is something that makes a Parish more of a home if its always open for its parishoners.

Ours is locked outside of mass and adoration hours, but there is a side door with a push button lock thingy and regulars all know the code and can get in anytime they want. It's awesome to drive or walk by the church and think, "Hey, I wanna go in and visit Jesus!"

Eh. Ours is closed about half the time, I would suppose. We don't have a side chapel where there's perpetual Adoration, so everything is held in the church building (which is the most beautiful church you'll ever see in your life.) So the church is only open when Mass is going on or when Adoration or Confession is going on (not that often, sadly)... and I suppose if someone that works at the church is there, they'll leave it open for people to come in... so, yeah; I'd say about half the time.

No, I was thinkin about that not too long ago. I think a church should be somewhere that is always open because I know that there have been times when I've wanted to just go and sit, it's very calming when not many people are around.

Ours is open during daylight hours. There's one side door that's always kept unlocked. But, they had to install an alarm to keep people out of the sanctuary. We had a desecration happen not too long ago. :(

My parish is open most of the normal day. Like 7 till 4. But when I have class I can't really go. I had a semmie tell a small group I was in that we could just ask the priest for a key. Most of them will gladly give one to you as long as he trusts you. Father trusts me, I am pretty sure, and if I asked for a key he would give me one or at least make a trip over to unlock the doors for me.

I go to Mass and confession 15 minutes before people really start getting in there. When I get there for Confession it is normaly Father running around from the offices to the scastry (sp?) getting ready for confession and Mass. When I get there for Mass it is normally Father praying in one of the front pews and a few older people. Than Father and I chat for a few seconds are praying and he goes to get ready for Mass.

I really like it when it is like that. It just doesn't feel right if I don't come in early. I need quiet to really pray so yeh.

The church is locked inbetween Masses.

We've got a Perpetual Adoration Chapel that's locked between 5:00 pm and 5:00 am. (But I know the code, of course.... :D)

I'm not sure if ours is or not. I know there is adoration 24 hrs. so i'm pretty sure the side door is, so u caN get into the chapel, but the rest of it, i'm pretty sure its not.

I imagine that mine is locked most of the time, except Saturdays they leave it open for people going to Confession. Otherwise it's locked, because they don't have Adoration or anything, its such a bummer.
