JP2Iloveyou
Would you all allow me to vent for a moment? I have noticed this election year more and more people saying they hate politics, politicians are all greedy and evil, they're going to vote for the "lesser of two evils," and that whoever wins doesn't really matter. Now, I am someone who aboslutely LOVES politics. I have spent my entire time in college studying political science. It is really disheartening for me to see this attitude among people, especially young people. The way I see it, this has a twofold effect. First, it says that what I am studying is irrelevant and useless. Second, it de facto criticizes good people working in politics. I guess what I'm saying is this: if you don't like someone, fine, but please realize, politics effects all of our lives directly. It will make a difference who wins in November in EVERY race from President to county treasurer. The Catechism says that we as Catholics have a moral obligation to vote if we are able. In the United States, we have an amazing right to personally elect our leaders. Many if not most of the people on earth do not share this right with us. I hope everyone realizes how important politics are to our country and to our own lives as well as the lives of everyone else.
MC Just
The olny thing I have against politics are those liberal catholic politicians who impose their political views on the Church and expect the church to change it's mind and doctrines for the sake of american freedom.. I'm voting for Bush, and I am getting many other's to vote for him.
JP2Iloveyou
I will also be voting for Bush. I am a huge George Bush fan. He's not perfect, but no one is. He has the morally superior positions on the five uncompromisable issues and I happen to agree with him on almost all of the other issues that people can legitimately disagree on. [/quote] Politics in itself is uselss, and if it wasn't absolutly necessary for God's plans and wills to be carried out, then I would say I hate it (politics) as well. However, this isn't the case. God wanted governments. With governments you must have politics. So politics are a necessary part of God's plans for this world. I hope you realize however, the way politics is today, it is disheartening for all of us. Weather political science is a waste or not, I have this to say. All knowledge attained is wonderful, well at least most. Political science is ncessary, and so therefore is useful as well.
