MichaelFilo
I've been reading through some non-Catholic stuff, and about other Christian religions. I've come to the conclusion that anti-Catholic sentiment exists in all of them. Now, I was thinking, when they show hatred, through their anti-Catholic lies and through the things (horrid things) that they say, do they not disprove their very claim as being that of the beacon of light which is Jesus? I mean, some protestants (only single them out because it's true) feel that we should show love to all, except Catholics. Other key notes: Christians who are against gays but are not Catholic tend to hate the gay's and blame it fully on the gay person. Every church outside of the Catholic Church validates itself by attacking certain doctrines (ie sola scriptura). Only exception : the Orthodox Church. This tends to lead to hate, because they exist due to rebellion. This is just a thought, anyone got any comments? God bless, Mikey
ICTHUS
I've been reading through some non-Catholic stuff, and about other Christian religions.
Whatever do you mean by 'other Christian religions?'
Now, I was thinking, when they show hatred, through their anti-Catholic lies and through the things (horrid things) that they say,
As far as I can tell, you are operating under the fallacy that we should always be nice to everyone. The Holy Scriptures, however, teach otherwise. Proverbs 27:5 says that open rebuke is better than hidden love, thus proving that a well placed, wise rebuke is better than simply biting ones tongue when a person is in error. How much more true is this in matters of religion, where eternal souls are at stake?
do they not disprove their very claim as being that of the beacon of light which is Jesus?
No. Jesus didn't promise to give us a nice fuzzy feeling in our bellies. He promised to lead us to the Truth, and that the Truth would set us free. Protestantism arose because of a timeless battle between good and evil, between the Truth of the Gospel, and the lie of salvation by works espoused by Rome, which even to this day leads mens souls to eternity in Hell.
I mean, some protestants (only single them out because it's true) feel that we should show love to all, except Catholics.
Not true. We should show love to all people, but love does not include coddling them in their errors. This is the reason why I still persist at Phatmass, to learn how to defeat the system which I have been convinced by God has corrupted the Gospel of Grace.
Christians who are against gays but are not Catholic tend to hate the gay's and blame it fully on the gay person.
Not entirely true. I acknowledge that a persons passions may be corrupted due to the sin and the inherent wickness into which every human being is born, and thus making them homosexual. However, like Rome (to its credit) teaches, I acknowledge that the Gospel demands metanoia - a total change of heart from previous wickedness.
Every church outside of the Catholic Church validates itself by attacking certain doctrines (ie sola scriptura).
We do not attack Sola Scriptura - rather, we uphold it!
This tends to lead to hate, because they exist due to rebellion.
Ha! This is the pot calling the kettle black! Rome rebels against the Word of God, setting the Traditions of Men equal to the Word of God (for instance, teaching Mary's immaculate conception) and thus making it void. Justified Saint
Well, Ryan gives us an excellent witness of what at least one of the Protestant (in this caes the reformed) gospel is all about. All that matters is TULIP and a bunch of phrases starting with the word "sola". There is a reason why Calvinsim was declared dead a long time ago. Convientently for Protestants, perhaps, there is plenty of different things to pick off the tree of Protestantism, truth, gospels, denominations - whatever you want to call it. A common selection for most though is the fruit of anti-Catholicism. It must have a bittersweet taste for them.
MorphRC
Michael The Orthodox are against the Immaculate Conception, I believe, plus they seem to have a permenant chip on their shoulder about catholicism, so i wouldnt exclude them.
Brother Adam
Ryan, First I'll say that your friends McCarthy and Chick would be proud, you are sounding more and more like them everyday. I see me in you just a few short years ago when I was convinced I "had it figured out". But I applaud that you will stick around until you figure out how to "defeat this system". Men have been trying to figure out how to beat it for thousands of years. From Nero to Boettner. They have been attempting to beat it since St. Paul preached the gospel to the gentiles. I encourage you to focus specifically on history, and to remember academic honesty in your work. "Rome rebels against the Word of God, setting the Traditions of Men equal to the Word of God (for instance, teaching Mary's immaculate conception) and thus making it void" For someone who was once a strong Catholic, it is sad that you have been so deluded. I don't think anyone here needs to explain to you the difference between Jewish tradition and the oral Tradition of the Church. If you can't even take your Bible verses in context you're in sad shape to try to debate Catholic apologists. You should know that Mary's immaculate conception was foreshadowed in the Old Testament implicitely. You my friend have been swayed by the doctrine of man. Calvins' words are not the Word of God.
