The Whore of Babylon to Catholics was the Roman Empire. Recall that the Roman Empire suppressed the Christians and the Jews (see Massada) and was very secular, enforcing Paganism on all its people. Recall that a golden chalice would be a symbol of the incredible wealth from which the Romans drank their fill. Recall that the city of Rome lays between seven hills. Recall that Rome controlled almost all the known world of that time. Recall that Rome was not only involved in world wide politics with kings, but also had many sexual scandals (e.g. fornication). Recall that in Rome, red was the color of the military and purple was the color of the nobles. Recall that the ancient Greek texts display the anti-Christ with the number value of 616 and the Latin with the value of 666. Doesn't it seem interesting that 616 and 666 equal the letter value of the name of Nero in each respective language?

lol funny thing was after I read the "purple" and "red" thing from Budge, I was flipping through the channels on the tv and came across TBN ( Trinity Broadcasting Network) which is practically a Protestant network anywho and there on the tv stood a Protestant pastor in a Red and Purple robe !!

actually, these things are symbolic of the *true* Church! The Anti-Christ will claim to have the authority of Christ, but will not truly have it. Thus, to make his claim more authentic, he will need to overtly take on the appearances of Christ. Thus any symbol that overtly denotes the AC will also denote Christ himself.

Of course, the AC will be evil, whereas Christ is good . . . so if you can make a case that the Catholic Church is evil, you might have a leg to stand on. Don't strain yourself though, you could fall into the sin of despair if you ever try to prove that the Church is evil!

And I was just thinking about the colour purple. Its ironic and extremely symbolic that Purple was a colour of sinfulness and distrust in God, but the Church has made it to be the colour of penance, asking God and trusting Him to forgive you.

Hyperman, Have you even ever read the Entire "Book of Revelation?" If so you'd realize its a increditable highly complex book. That Tells Events From Past, Present, and Future? Not only do you have to look at it from that prospective, if you to Apply God's Point of View over yours and yours may be slightly different than God's Prepsective, but You sould Look at it from the LORD's point of view, after all it is "His" Word, "His" Point of view on things.



Basically what I'm trying to say is, you souldn't go posting threads on information you may know nothing or alittle about. What Evidence do you offer? and if its good Evidence, proof it thats really Christ's Propspective and not Fiction.
