XIX
Can a confession become invalidated if, after you have confessed your sins, the priest tells you something that contradicts the Church? For example, telling you that a sexual sin probably isn't a sin at all under the circumstances? Thanks!
Pio Nono
JMJ 8/21 - St. Pius X XIX, Don't worry; a priest could tell you that the moon is a goddess in the confessional, but as long as he says the words of absolution and has the intention of doing what the Church does, then all your sins are forgiven. There was a heresy that said that the holiness of the priest has an effect on the sacraments he performs; the Church has solidly come out against this. Hope this helps.
