rachael
I have a HUGE problem with profanity. I really do get it from my parents, as well as some of my friends, so I hear it all of the time and it becomes natural to say it. any suggestions? homeschoolmom
I put pepper on my children's tongues when they say "no nice" things... Don't think that would work in your case, though...

let_go_let_God
Something that works for me is everytime I use profanity and such I say an Our Father Hail Mary and a Glory Be. It's just that if you use profanity a lot it makes you think before you use it.

let_go_let_God
It is a habit, very hard to break, I haven't sworn in over 20 days. Prayer does help.

let_go_let_God
it is and I can relate to where you are coming from. Another thing I use to keep myself in check is would I speak like that with the same mouth I take Jesus's Body and Blood with?
Iacobus
I used to be real bad in my bad days. I just started to interalize it. Swearing in my head and not verbaly. I am not sure that is a Rome Apporved way of doing it but at that time I didn't care. It worked for me. Just try replacing the words and praying a lot. Thy Geekdom Come
A friend of mine from seminary used to wear a rubber band around his wrist and snap it every time he swore. It worked pretty well...he stopped swearing.

MorphRC
U gotta settle ur mind, and keep reminding urself when u swear at home or out. So say ur about to swear, after a while, u start to say Fu.....dge...lol or some stupid word to replace it, it takes about 23 days to loose a bad habit.
