JESOd
a friend of mine had mentioned this and i am unable to respond... the girl that could not take the Eucharist because she was allergic to the gluten in the wheat... why couldn't she? ... since it turns into actual flesh and is no longer wheat? Pio Nono
JMJ 8/21 - St. Pius X JESOd, This is an interesting question. In order for the consecration of the Eucharist to be valid, someone has to start out with the right ingredients. Using pizza and beer instead of wheat bread and wine won't bring about consecration; neither will using rice- or potato-based breads. It is truly unfortunate that persons allergic to glutenate breads are unable to receive the Host; however, any good priest will be more than willing to let such a person receive the Precious Blood, even from an individual chalice (should even mixing a small amount of bread be too much for the allergen). Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
