Azriel
would it be possible to have a separate (temporary) politics phorum so the other phorums are inundated with political arguing?
I gotta agree with this one. Before we all forget where we are. Lets chill out. We all love each other, remember that.

ironmonk
It's sad how people want to label it politics when what these men do and are will affect our very lives.... and the lives of millions of unborn. MC Just is right, that is the problem... so many people just want to ignore it and tell us to shut up. Don't do anything, it'll take care of itself... If we are just praying for changes, then we are not doing our job. If we are not praying in addition to getting the truth out, we are not doing our job. If everything is about a "what's in it for me and mine?" then we are not following Christ. We should be asking "What's the good for society?" and when we do, we need to think bigger than just us. If you want to get technical, we should send jobs to poorer countries, would that not be the Christian and Charitable thing to do... putting others first. But that's not my point.... my point is that certain people in this country want to blame others for their shortcomings or laziness. Some people in this country expect the government to solve all the problems. I've got some shocking news for those people... the government cannot, and should not solve all problems. That's not the government's job. Some people work hard into their 30's and 40's; raising a family, going to school at nights, a full time job, plus a part time job, and when they finally reach a point where they can rest, there are some people in this country that want to force the hard workers to support their laziness. Also, whatever happened to depending on God? God provides. Don't blame other people because of not having more... like some people in this country. Instead of spending so much time placing blame where it doesn't belong, try working on improving ourselves... and most of all.... People need to depend on God, not the government. I want the government out of my life... I don't want them to have anything to do with getting me a job.... I don't want them to feed me... when that happens, they have power over people and they force the people to depend on them.... then one day, someone looses a high paying job and cannot get another one that pays anything need the previous job... Who's fault is it really? Why didn't that person work on improving himself? Blame should be placed where it belongs. I don't think we need a political board.... people need to know, if they don't want to know, if they really believe that ignorance is bliss... then they don't have to read it. Good Friday
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, guard us against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. Holy Heart of Joseph, pray for us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

The more I've heard about John Kerry and all these other clowns with their crazed ravings and utterly stupid antics, the more have I been torn down by the dark, absurd reality of the world. I would rather have never known. Politics must be bad, its driving me mad. Are there anarchists anymore? But I'd want to be a totally ignorant anarchist. I could form the ignorant anarchist's party and never do anything about it except wallow in the mute stupidity of my sweet paradise of sheer ignorance. love me they will. I will represent everything the American people truly want... and I won't wear my religion on my sleeve. *sigh* darth vader is black.

dUSt

I think we need to pray for the ones who justify supporting Kerry.
Well, yes, but surely you're not saying we shouldn't pray for Kerry himself? If by that comment you're referring to M.SIGGA, who's mentioned in Dave's post, he does not support Kerry, he's talked about voting for a third party candidate because he can't vote for President Bush. However, he is disgusted by the bitter, and I do mean bitter hatred of Kerry and all Democrats by some on this phorum (I'm not going to name names, but I definitely could, and you all know who), and I too am disgusted by it. And I am not supporting Sen. Kerry, either; I am supporting charity. It's not charitable to constantly malign someone, treating him as subhuman, while also refusing to pray for him.
Of course not. And I agree.
Ash Wednesday
I have been openly critical of Kerry on this board -- and it certainly isn't my intent to drive people away about it. I don't hate the man, and I certainly don't want people to think that, or that we shouldn't pray for him. We should. I think a lot of it is because this place is like a haven and an outlet for Catholics to vent their frustrations and they know that there are others that understand how they feel. It's frustrating to see someone resist their professed faith to their face -- and I think even more frustrating that at least half of our fellow Catholics intend to vote for him, because he really shouldn't be considered licit to vote for. (And that issue has been a spanked dead horse on the debate board, so let's save it for there.) I also find, at least in my case, it's probably reaction against the vitriolic criticism and hatred spewed forth in past year and a half towards President Bush. That's not to say that people have no right to criticize them -- they do. However, it's been taken to a very irrational and personal level. So I will say, in part, being Christian isn't always about "being nice." Jesus had pretty harsh words for people because they needed to hear it. Maybe the difference is he did it out of love, something I will admit I haven't really always done. Perhaps to keep things in perspective, if I have any criticism to offer on John Kerry, I will also post a reminder to pray for him.
